Thanks, everyone. It was fun to make. People kept walking through the dorm kitchen and looking at us strangely, as we had icing and cake paraphernalia strewn about everywhere. Plus, we had exploding icing bags (super cheap plastic baggies that were all I could manage at the last minute). My boyfriend said he really appreciates my cakes now, as he's seen how much work goes into even a quickie cake.
