As the final practical for my Wedding Cake class I had to make a wedding cake. The cake is actually a dummy cake which is styrofoam. the cakes are covered in fondant and decorated with royal icing lace points and brushed embroidery. I made the calla lilys out of gumpaste and petal dusted the colors on. The board is also covered in fondant and crimped. Enjoy and let me know what you think!

Beautiful! I love how your lace points stick out from the cake!

The brush embroidery is beautiful and I KNOW those royal lace points were a pain!!!!! How many did you break? Please don't tell me you didn't!!!
pastrypuffgirl 2/18/06 at 7:17pm
thank you. I anchored the top layer to the second layer by putting a rod connecting both for strength. then I started with the front center calla lily and did the rest by eye. I had originally planned for more flowers on the top but decided there were enough. And yes, the lace points were a pain in the behind. I broke probably one out of every 5 I put on the cake. thanks!

Your lillies are stunning. I love these flowers! Can I please ask, are their stems wire? Or gumpaste?

I love this cake! I love the soft colours, the balance and the pretty lace. The colouring of our lilys is great too!!
sweetsuccess 2/19/06 at 4:51am
I like the soft colors on the cake which are repeated on the flowers. From the photo, I really can't see the brush embroidery that well, but from what I can see, the flowers are well placed and wel executed! ;-D
