Red Ribbon Cake

Red Ribbon Cake on Cake Central

Sour cream white cake w/ huckleberry BC filling. This cake, even though simple, gave me fits!!!. I made my BC too thin and it just wouldn't handle the right way and had lots of air bubbles. The other thing I learned is the next cake I do with ribbon on it I;m going to make sure the ribbon is not wired. You just can't get the ribbon to lay perfectly flat, even after ironing it.

The bride found the letters at a scrapbooking store and asked if I could somehow incorporate them onto the cake. I used hot glue to attach dowels to the back of the large letter and then white florist's wire to attach the smaller letters. The smaller letters were really thin and light-weight so they didn't sag too much.

Wow...that's beautiful. I am doing my niece's wedding cake in July and this is what she want....saving to favorites. Love the fruit display....it looks awesome and really adds to the cake. Nicely done!!

The cake recipe is in the Cake mix Doctor book - think it's something like "basic white cake" I know its close to page 300. The huckleberry filling is just frozen huckleberries (that I picked this summer) with a little sugar and then mixed into the BC recipe I use. Thanks for the compliments :)
