thanks for the nice comments:) i followed the instructions that rebeccas had posted, the boot has 2 wooden dowels down the center. also, the very bottom of the boot is styrofoam covered in fondant to give support to all the cake layers. i believe i stacked 8 inch round cakes on top of each other and started to carve. it took me forever, i must admit this cake was definitley a pain to make!
