I had a lot of fun doing this cake and some dramas aswell but ill let those go, no point crying over spilt milk as they say. This whole cake was lustered and it was so much fun and transformed what would have been really simple to stunning. The satin sheen made it super duper elegant and i loved it. The technique which i have never done before was surprisingly simple and all that panic was for nothing hehe

simply elegant

Thanks Dani. Wee Love baking blog has a great explanation of how to do it but ill try my best :-))) I mixed silk white luster dust with decorators alcohol. It was still runny you dont want to make it pasty then i quickly painted it on my cake with the softest new pastry brush i could find. Once the cake was completely painted with the dust it will look pretty streaky and i found that it was best to start at the top so you could wipe up any drips on your way down. It doesnt matter if it is streaky beca...

ohh i ran out of room lol. Because... the next step is to buff it with a pouffy brush, the brush i used was an all natural fibre brush for your cheeks brand new of course. When you buff it you will see all those little streaks dissapear and leave a gorgeous satin or luster finish. i had serious anxiety as i thought it was so hard to do and it turned out pretty easy :-) hope this helps

I love this! So simple but clean and elegant and it looks absolutely perfect. Thanks for the lustering explanation, I had wondered about that too.
