hi i need to make this cake model this weekend. It will be 4 layers of 6" cake with a board in between and bubble straws. So my question is, should i put a skewer or dowel in the center. And if the dowel needs to be screwed into the board or just inserted. Anyways let me know your thoughts.

I inserted a dowel thru the cake and I used foam core board for my cake boards so I just pushed the dowel down into the cake board to secure it more.  BTY the neck of my bottle was created from rice crispies from about the ribbon up.
