That's a good question, lol! It took me some time to figure out how I wanted to do it. The customer gave me a picture of a cake like this one, but it was more boyish. What I ended up using was plastic dowel tubes and making the animals around them. I made sure they were all cut evenly. I had her take it in two pieces and at the shower she placed the top onto the dowels. I put sticky adhesive tabs on top of the dowels so it couldn't be easily bumped. They just touched dowels and cardboard. :)
