Shower cake for triplets (two boys and a girl). 10" pound cake with fresh strawberry filling and smbc covered in fondant. I admittedly hate the border and would do a fondant brown border if I had a redo.
Cake Club: This is soo soo cute! Great job! Yes, the bottom border is totally out of place, but I see what you were going for. I would also recommend going to the next level and doing a fondant cake drum with a ribbon around it. Also- very tiny nitpicky detail- maybe use a smaller tip to glue the pearls on the middle of the flowers, as you can see the white icing behind them. I love the cake!
Cake Club: I really like your cake. Sweet and simple. The bird's nest with the coconut is a great idea, a bit more coconut is needed to completely cover the frosting? I might also add a simple wing to the birds to make them pop a bit.
Cake Club! Agree about the wing and bottom border. I would like to add that I think your blossoms may be a bit large for the pearls you used in the center. Maybe a slightly smaller flower with one pearl or same size flowers but 3 pearls for the center. Other then that great execution and very cute cake!
Cake Club: I also agree with the boarder and maybe making the birds a bit more dimenstional. I probably would have used slightly smaller flowers rolled a bit thinner. I think a plain round board covered in fondnt or simple color would have been a bit better, the scallops don't match the clean look of the cake. That said, I like the concept a lot, what a cute idea for a baby shower; the eggs are adorable.
Cake Club comment: Sooo cute! I think some color on the flowers would be nice, as would leaves. I know a lot of people wouldn't agree with me but a Wilton course goes a long way towards learning several nice, simple piped borders. I don't know which course includes that. Another option would be to make the border match to nest.
