This was a cake I just did for a 30th where the theme was black & white. The credit for this cake goes to 'The Pastry Studio' - I am not sure if they are on CC but I based this cake on one of theirs. This cake looked so elegant when it was finished....love it. Also did 50 matching cupcakes

Beautiful! Can you tell me how you manage to keep your circles perfectly straight and place them on the cake without them stretching out or becoming misshapen? Thanks so much!

Thank you so much everyone.....YAY I am so excited you all like my cake...I am so proud of it...lol my little chest is puffed out like a roster hahaha. To Dani1081 - I added a tiny bit of CMC just to get them to harden quicker than normal as you know how soft black is (just add the tiniest bit though). It is a bit of a learning game to work out just the right amount of time to let them set.....you want them to firm up (to hold their shape) but not too much if they are for the top and you have to be...

.....bend them over as they will crack if they are still not nice and pliable....You have to make the circles in batches so some are drying while you put the first ones on....you don't want to make them all at once.

bitabread: the top is black fondant....I rubbed it heaps to get it to shine....and steamed it a bit with the iron (this was my first time steaming and it was a bit scary lol). Hubby bought me a airbrush kit and it is still in it's box....I am a bit scared of it....as I have no idea how to use it. Will have to work it out though so I can start using it. Thanks everyone - your comments have made my day :) Ooops and I meant 'rooster' up above.
