Double Birthday

While on vacation in Montana, my SIL and her 1 year old granddaughter celebrated birthdays. I was asked to make a cake for both of them. So with quite an age difference between them, I tried to come up with something they both would like that might coordinate. The bottom tier is hand painted to look like the Franciscan apple design that my SIL loves and collects and the top is a ladybug for my grand-niece. I took the wrong size pan for the ladybug with me so it's larger than I wanted, but she didn't care. This is not my favorite cake but it was made with love...in a kitchen that I was very unfamiliar with and a limited supply of cake tools!
