A sweet wedding cake for a sweet couple - Peter & Kellie - friends of mines who have just tied the knot today. Such a lovely couple and I was thrilled to make their wedding cake.
This was my first four tier REAL cake and it weighed a ton! Bottom tier was ferrero rocher, third tier was pina colada, second tier was vanilla and the top tier was strawberries and cream.

Gorgeous! Did you use a stencil for the bottom layer?

I love the small quilted pattern... is that a new impression mat? I have not seen them that small or tight before. Stunning cake though, I love it!

Beautiful! just gorgeous. SWEETNOSTALGIA...full instructions for that "impression mat" are at NYCcakegirl's blog. Google: "nyccakegirl how to decorate a sweet wedding cake" and you'll get to it. It was Ron Ben Israel's assistant blog, but she just quit. Ron uses a Lucite florescent lighting cover for that pattern.

Beautiful...the edges are so sharp! How do you do that? Are these covered in fondant?

OMG the most beautiful cake! Somebody PLEASE tell me if this is an impression mat? Do you think she made the mat? Absolutely beautiful? Also is this fondant? Bottom layer looks like buttercream but I can't really tell! BEAUTIFUL!

Hey guys, thanks for all the wonderful comments. Every tier is covered in fondant - the impression on two of the tiers is done using a lucite light cover - there is a tutorial on NYCCakeGirls blog that describes the technique. The bottom tier is also covered in fondant :)
