Thanks for all the sweet notes. The butterflies were made of sugar pastillage, more sturdier than gumpaste. I colored the pastillage a medium blue, cut out butterflies and set them to dry in a folded piece of sturdy paper so they dried in a perched position. Once completely dry, I painted the black and piped the white. I used black stamens for the antennas.
