Tutankhamun Mask

This was a vanilla sponga base (up to shoulders) then RKT for the head, buttercreamed and then covered with fondant coloured yellow. I inscribed Hieroglyphs on the back (i have many images of the actual mask of Tutankhamun - so all the items on the bust are as true to life as possible). I used Gildesol and Antique gold to give the cake a burnished Gold look.

The beads on the front (the neckdress) took about 4-5 hours alone. the beard was made separately then attached with a cocktail stick and a bit of Royal Icing. one finished the whole cake was sprayed with Glaze spray to give the shiny gold look.

I covered the board and handpainted the scarab and Heiroglyphics (which read a message along the Lines of "Tutankahmun - ruler, sovereign of this land. Son of Akenaten etc etc" I then added coloured sugar to simulate sand as if its just been discovered.
