In community album: Black/White
This was made with 2 - 9" and 2 - 6" round cake pans. The cakes were pink and dark brown zebra print inside. I made white cake batter and dyed it pink, then made some chocolate cake batter as well. Once you prep you pans - you want to get 2 large spoons (approx 3 Tbsp each) or similar sized measuring cups. Pour a spoonful of 1 batter directly into the center of your cake pan and then quickly pour the other batter into the center of your first puddle of batter. Continue alternating (it will look like rings or circles within circles) until your pan is 1/2 to 2/3 full and repeat for remaining pans. Try not to twist to jostle your pans once they are full or you will swirl your zebra strips. Once cooled, I trimmed cakes and put seedless raspberry between the layers for flavor. Cakes were stacked and 3 supports were placed thru the cake (I used smoothie straws) and trimmed accordingly. It was frosted with white crusting buttercream (Viva method) and smoothed. The black stripes are made from store bought black fondant, rolled out and cut with a pizza cutter. I used hot pink sparkly ribbon and matching silk flowers for decorations. I brushed off any visible confectioners sugar from the black stripes with a clean paintbrush.
