Thanks! I cut the chevrons using my Ateco diamond cutter set and set it aside, covered to avoid it drying out. Then, I brushed the cake with vodka to dampen and carefully placed the cut chevron on my turntable. Starting in the middle, I pressed it onto the cake. Jessicakesblog.blogspot.com has a tutorial using a shortening-covered piece of wax paper that I've been wanting to try.
Love your cake! I've seen this kind of lettering used before. Assume you're using cutters. Do you have a name for them and where did you get them? How tall are the letters? Thanks.
@ Mexx: The letters are by FMM and they're called Funky Letter Tappits. They come in both uppercase and lowercase. You can find them on globalsugarart.com or probably Amazon.com. For reference, the board is 12" and the bottom tier is 6" so I'm guessing the letters are about 1 1/2" tall.
