The colours on this cake were inspired by the colour palette for the day inclusive of dresses, flowers and decorations. The 2 roses are actually peach - they look quite orange in the photos. Both are handmade.

Raspberry Ripple for the top and double barrel bottom tier with Vanilla White Truffle ganache

Your roses are amazing! Pardon the ignorance, but is this all fondant or buttercream?
SugablossomCakes 7/10/12 at 12:47pm
Thank you all for your lovely comments. This is fondant.... I work with ganache as a base and then fondant for all of my cakes.

This cake is BEAUTIFUL!!! Was the ombre effect done with Fondant? Thanks!
me-and-my-cakes 7/10/12 at 9:26pm
gorgeous roses!!

The ombre strips were done with varying shades of fondant... My airbrush and I don't play nicely together just yet, so colouring the fondant is my preference.

Your cake is refreshing! It reminds me of delicious sherbet ice cream.

absolutely beautiful! Your roses are so lifelike! How do you get the shiny effect on your fondant? Mine always seems to look very mat.
CakeChik 7/16/12 at 5:51pm
GORGEOUS cake! Kellyxxx, I can't speak for Sugablossomcakes, but I have seen "The Cake Boss" use a torch to give the fondant a "wet" look (I guess it lightly melts it), and I know there is edible gloss spray as well. :)
SugablossomCakes 7/16/12 at 8:30pm
I've only ever steamed my flowers to set the petal dust, but I always clean my cakes down with vodka and this will give a slight shine to the cake until the alcohol evaporates off and the fondant dries. You can also use crystalline diluted with a little alcohol and this will keep a shiny appearance. The more you apply, the shinier the fondant becomes.
