@oopsieyem, I rolled out the fondant and let it harden for a few minutes and then cut then. When they were hard enough (but not too hard) i placed them on the cake using a ruler to help make sure they were straight. Because the fondant had set a little, it didn't stretch at all but you do have to be a bit gentler with them. If they are too hard then they can crack. Hope this helps.
