In community album: Birthday Cakes
This outdoor ice skating pond was made for my niece. The cake is covered with butter cream. The "ice" was candy made on the stove top and cooled in a rectangular shaped mold. The girl skater, light post and bench are made of 50/50 gumpaste fondant mix. You can't see it in the picture but a nice touch was etching the words "happy birthday" like the skater skated them into the ice.
