The diamonds are fake plastic diamonds I bought in the bridal section at Michael's.. so, if you mean even in size.. it's because they were fake. lol!!
If you mean evenly spaced and lined up, I used my square fondant cutter, turned sideways to make the quilt pattern making sure to keep them straight and lined up evenly. then, I put the diamonds in between the squares.
