thanks to kathycake here on cc for the idea. my son just passed his electrician test, and it was his birthday, so i felt this style was perfect. the wooden circles are cardboard covered with fondant that was streaked to look like wood. the cake is covered with orange buttercream, piped out with a 12 tip to look like extension cord. the hard hat is rice cereal covered with fondant. all the other items on the top of the spool are gumpaste.
