White Baby Grand Piano, Butter cream icing, gum paste flower and music, fondant keys. Had white chocolate cover to prop on the piano but was afraid it would fall. The cake was inspired from the candelabra that was a gift from a friend. Cake was made for a choir get together.

So lovely!! Can you tell us what the piano legs are made of?
Rosie2 4/16/12 at 8:38am
Amazing, I love it including the candelabra!! yeah, please tell us more about the piano base/legs. Did you custom made those?

Thank you everyone. It was a fun cake to make. Since it was buttercream, I tinted the fondant with a little brown so it wouldn't look odd with the icing. As for the base. I bought some very inexpensive legs from the local hardware store (about $8 for all) and my husband cut out a board from the outline I gave him and screwed in the legs (which already had bolts in them). We spraypainted the base an ivory to match the buttercream.

I forgot to say...I hand painted the music. I used an actual hymn and drew the notes and wrote out the words....I wanted the choir members to be able to sing the song. As for the cake size, the legs were 4 inches high and I used 2 12 x 12 cakes to make the piano. Hope that helps.

LOVE this. I think I will attempt something similar for my former piano teacher. She and I are still in touch almost 25 years later because we share the same birthday. She will be 88 this year. I will try a scaled down version, though. My mother always made my cake using the Wilton piano set with the plastic legs and keys....this is MUCH more beautiful.

Oh! I would be interested in seeing other pictures of this -if you have more views.
