In: Gumpaste Hydrangea & Filler Flowers in album: Flowers
This is the practice bouquet I made after finishing the Handcrafted Sugar Flowers class on Craftsy, taught by Jacqueline Butler of Petalsweet. It was a great class and I can't wait to get my "real" cutters veiners (I used Wilton's) and keep practicing!

Beautiful! I am in just about done with flowers for a wedding a cake on the 29th of this month. I am terrified! First wedding cake and first flowers. I have pretty much read books, blogs and watched ALOT of youtube. I did see the classes on craftsy in fact I saved it. So I assume you like the video? Your flowres are really lovely!

Thank you! I did like the class on Craftsy! I'm still new to cake decorating in general (I started about a year and a half ago as a hobby). I haven't taken any classes, so I was happy to see the craftsy one. The instructors I am interested in learning from generally don't make it close enough to me! So like you, I've watch a LOT of youtube, studied lots of flowers and kind of taught myself. The course was nice because there are somethings I wouldn't have figured out on my own, even for simple flowe...

Well done HappyCake, you sure inspire me I do make flowers, but I'm not that good at it. It takes so much practice, to get where one desires.

These look great! I also took this online class.... I have yet to try and make the hydrangeas, but I have done the filler flowers... and mine turned out nothing like yours. It looks great!!

Thank you! Yes, it does take a lot of practice... I've been working at roses all week (with no intention of putting them on a cake), and I can't get them to look the way I want, despite trying different techniques! Thank you for your compliment, I found the Craftsy class really helpful, even for "simple" flowers like these :)

These are lovely, I have those Wilton cutters and was disappointed they didn't imprint any veining on the flower like they showed in the book. If you find a cutter set you like would you please let me know? I can't decide between Blossom Sugar Art or Sunflower Sugar Art's cutter/veiner set on Global Sugar Art.
