I just covered plastic dowels with fondant.

Hey, I'm very interested in what you used for the ropes? I've made several wrestling ring cakes before, using an 8" sq. pan; but I have an order for a 12"sq. ring. I used pullable twizzlers for the ropes on the small cake, but have no idea what to use for the larger cake.

I used bamboo skewers and painted them red with an edible food marker.
