Hi, i was wondering if you could give me the details of how you put the cake on the dowel, ie: cake first and then pour sugar?, or put cake on after dowel and sugar was poured. i have tried this and i built the stand but it didn't work well for me. Thank you for any info you can provide.

Iming, the sugar is pour onto a wooden dowel, only half of it,then let cool a little while turning the dowel to keep the sugar where you want it.keep pouring more sugar on until you have enough to look like a stream of beer.once it cools a little, you can mold the sugar a little more the way you want it.let cool until hard.the other half of the dowel with no sugar on it is what you stick into the top of the cake or "beer mug".the beer can goes on top.hope that makes sense.

Perfect sense!! So you do not support the dowel to the board, you just insert it into the cake and it holds up by the cake, right?
