I wanted the octopus to look a bit realistic rather than cartoonish. Inside is a chocolate cake with vanilla frosting. I used half of a sphere mold to make the octopus' body out of cake. The legs are fondant, and the suction cups on his legs are gumpaste. Everything on this cake is edible. The starfish are white chocolate.
