"Inky" the Octopus Cake

I made this cake for my daughter's 8th birthday. She has loved and adored octopus since she was 10 months old when she claimed a certain special pink octopus "Inky" stuffed creature (made by Ty) to be her favorite. For display at the party, I put the cake on an elevated cake stand and surrounded the base with a dozen stuffed octopus animals from her special collection. The blue base and pink octopus head is cake iced in buttercream, while the legs are made from rolled fondant.
