Carolinagirl....I use the smoothing method learned from Sugarshack's Buttercream DVD. And I hand cut the letters myself! Printed out on the computer and traced onto MMF.
For the 16, I use MMF with some tylose mixed in. I rolled out grey MMF to the thickness you can see. Let it dry a little. Then trace the 16 onto the MMF. Then I cut it out, smoothed the edges with my fingers, and used a skewer (ran under the faucet so it's wet and sticks to the MMF) and stuck the skewer up the numbers so I can stick them in the cake!

It's One Stroke Script. Not sure of the size, I always print it out different sizes depending on the height of the tier I am using. I just use the ruler that is to the left so I can see the height of the letters before I print them out.
