How do you make those strings?

The stringwork is done using royal icing. This technique involved turning the cake upside down to allow for strings to dry over the cake. I think techniques like this are not done enough.

It's called oriental string work, google it and you will see a tutorial by Cake Walk. Great job on your cake! :)

I first saw this done at the White Rose Cake Show live challenge in York PA. Amazing to see it done so quickly! I've been wanting to try this too. Thanks for the link to the tutorial.
