Oh my! Why do you think that happened?

I think the top tier was to small on the bottom and it made it top heavy. Back to the drawing board..........

Do you have a before pic? Was it a two tier with an extra tall base or three tier? (I don't see any separator in the base and no icing where it slid apart so I'm guessing the base tier is four layers.) Did you use a support system? (I don't see any except for one green thing and a dowel on the table behind the cake.) Was the top tier sitting level inside the cutout in the base tier? (It looks like the cutout is the same depth all the way around, but if the base tier was also carved into a crooked s...

shape--which it looks like it was--the top tier wouldn't have had a level surface to be stacked upon.) If you rotate the photo 90 degrees clockwise so that the top tier's cardboard is level, you'll see that the top tier's tapered shape is carved at an angle where both sides are already leaning to the left. I didn't find a thread where you were looking for a diagnosis, but I hope this helps with diagnosing some of the problems you experienced for your next try.

This is (was) a two tier. The bottom had three layers (as did the top) and was carved to accept the top tier. I used 4 bubble straws between the tiers and a dowel going through both tiers. I wasn't happy with how the top tier looked because it looked like it was leaning from the very start. I thought I got it trimmed better but it still wasn't like I thought it should. I tried putting something in the forum but I couldn't get it to post the picture, probably because it's to large, can't remember t...

the photo size requirements. This is the only picture I can find, thought I took more but it appears as though I didn't. Thanks for your comments. I am anxious to get the DVD that I ordered from Sharon Z.

I can just imagine what my face would look like if I saw that falling! I'm so afraid to try the topsy turvy! Someday...

Actually I didn't see it fall, in fact I didn't know it had fallen until the next morning. I went in to take my shower and never turned any light on until I got in the bathroom. I heard my husband go into the living room and heard him say "Oh my!". I thought he was talking about the corn stove going out until I came out of the bathroom, all I could do was laugh and thanking god that it was practice.
