This cake was iced in buttercream and then I placed a wide black satin ribbon at the base of each tier. Then I placed over 100 bloomed red roses around each tier, and on top.
Hi Donna, Your cakes r just amazing!!! I was wondering could you tell me what you use to attach the ribbon around the cake & how do you keep it from getting any smudges?

Anyway, as for the ribbon, I just wrap it around and then attach it in the back with buttercream. I'm not sure what you mean about the smudges. Do you mean on the ribbon?
hello what kind of cake did you use for each layer,so you didnt use silk flowers? if not what about the ends of the rose you just stuck them in the cake? you didnt have to coat the end of the flower?

Sweetpee417, I don't remember what cake flavors and fillings were used in the cake. No, they are not silk flowers. I rarely have anyone use silk flowers. Maybe 3 people in the ten years I have been doing this. No, I didn't stick them in the cake. I cut the stem way down, and then each cake is on an very thick board so that I could put ribbon on the tier, and have it show over the roses.
