This is a cake I made which was designed by my daughter. She wanted it to look like our little Maltese. It's all buttercream except for the flowers, which are royal.

Wow! Looks wonderful! I just love the puppy, he looks very lifelike.

Thanks. The dog is cake too. I used the mini doll pan for the body, cupcake head, mini cupcake paws that were cut in half, and a mini bundt pan for the rump. The rest is all icing.

Oh, you almost made me cry. Our family dog from when I was growing up passed away this past fall and she was a maltese and looked just like that!! This is incredibly beautiful!!

OMG ... that is too adorable ...we just got a maltese puppy for x-mas ..my kids would go bonkers!!! could you share instructions on how you did this?
infields 1/30/06 at 12:35pm
sofiasmami, I just used buttercream to glue together the above-mentioned pieces of cake. I had to sculpt the head a little bit & use toothpicks to secure it, but other than that, it's just a big mound of buttercream. I used the Wilton tip #233 for the fur & black tip 12 eyes & nose.
