Gumpaste Shoe

Gumpaste Shoe on Cake Central

First attempt at gumpaste shoe using NATIS INSTRUCTIONS. Cake is 5 inch white chocolate mud cake covered in fondant strips and lid. Instructions were great and easy to follow but the execution was not easy for us and will take a fair amount of practice for us... will keep trying. All feedback welcome.

This is absolutely adoreable! You did a great job! Perfect stripes are hard to get so I think it's wonderful! What is the Natis instructions? Couldn't find it on CC

It's gorgeous! I love the striping on the side of the cake, your colors, and your shoe. I wouldn't have known it was your first attempt at the shoe.

You did a great job!!! boonenati did an article on CC on how to make a gumpaste shoe. I tried to post a link but, it won't let me. There is a link to the article under new articles right on the CC home page. It's a great tutorial.

Thanks guys... this one was a struggle. As mentioned above there is a link to the instructions on the CC home page. THe idea was the cake was meant to look like a little box but it looked better in my head. The stripes were done with a clay gun. I covered the whole cake first in fondant and then stuck them on around the side. The lid is just a strip cut with the ribbon cutter. The weather was hot so it kept stretching and lost its shape... practice more we will.
