Murray's Torah
The 2nd of 3 cakes for my Father-in-law'ss Bar Mitzvah anniversary. The Torah is a parchment scroll on which the Five Books of Moses are written. It is rolled on wooden rollers and "dressed" in a fancy cloth cover. It is carried reverently through the synagogue before and after a portion is chanted in Hebrew. This was my cake version of a Torah. The cover depicts a stylized Jerusalem. The rollers are Tylose-strengthened Pettinice chocolate fondant decorated with Kerry Vincent's marquetry technique.
Forgot to mention that this design was inspired by one done by Sarelle Weiner of Gems by Sarelle. Hers was really awesome!!!!
What a wonderful cake, my Jewish friends would love this.
I love everything about this cake. The rollers are perfect and the Torah cover loos so real!
