Cathy & Mike's wedding cake. 3 tiers (5-6-7) spiced pumpkin cake filled with cream cheese buttercream. Covered in fondant and decorated with hundreds of hand cut and shaped icicles. Sprinkled with white & baby lilac disco dust to give it a truly frosty finish!

This looks like some kind of sculpture not a cake, looks like very tedious work just cutting those icicles and the patience t them together, excellent !

JSKConfections 12/9/11 at 5:20pm
Wow...how long did it take you to attach all of those? How many hours in this cake?
Pam57 12/9/11 at 5:37pm
Amazing. What did you use to attach the wafer paper to the cake? Thanks in advance.
nancyg 12/9/11 at 5:43pm
Yes, is this wafer paper and if so how do you attach it??????? thanks for sharing

Icicles are rice/wafer paper and they are attached using a light amount of gum glue applied directly onto the cake surface. All told, the cake took around 12 hours of work. It isn't hard to do, just laborious!

What brand wafer paper do you use? So far the wafer paper I have found here in Illinois, does not work for this project. I tried to order the Dr. Oeker brand, but they don't ship to the USA. Any suggestions?
