I have really enjoyed the saga of this cake's development on the thread. What a beautiful job you did! You have a right to be proud. I particularly loved your water effect---you can almost hear the waves splashing and hissing on the sand with the receding wave! Great!

Awww.. thanks so much milkmaid42! I know you were following the thread in the hopes of doing one of your own! Please do post pics when you do and let us know! Thanks for your compliments... really means so much to a newbie like me! :D

Fantastic job! I too really love your water effect and your pirate! :D It was a pleasure to assist!

Thanks cherrycakes! The water was almost a mistake I think... I was trying to follow what I'd been advised to do.. but I think i put too much color into the gel... and then ended up almost mixing the gel into the bc, rather than spreading it lightly on top! lol! But hey... you live and you learn! hehe! Thanks for your help and compliments! :D

Oh, Vicky, it turned out so well! The wood detail on the fondant looks really great. I love the pirate and treasure chest on the island. Your water and waves look very realistic. I like your Jolly Roger, it looks like real fabric. You have every reason to be proud.

Vicky, oh my gosh! That turned out great! I'm just now seeing it. Your pirate is amazing, the water, if it was a mistake, was a hapy mistake! It looks so real. I've enjoyed following your journey and feel a real emotional attachment to this cake ! Haha! Can't say enough good things. Bravoo!

 :D THanks soooo much for your lovely words poohsmomma and dawnybird! You guys were crucial in helping me to make this cake.. so without your help and advice, it wouldn't have been possible! Poohsmomma - the pirate turned out a tad big.. which is why he was on the island and not on the ship! haha! And ahem... my palm tree is still a baby one... lol! The jolly roger was just dried on some slightly crumpled kitchen paper to give it some "wave"!Dawnybird... my water is the happiest mistake ever! lol
