What did you make the characters out of?

Truely a work of art. :D

thank you :) I made the characters out of sugar paste and covered them with leaf glaze for the shiny look

Wow, those figures are amazing. They look exactly like the plastic set I purchased for my son's birthday!!

Nice job! How'd you do the lettering? This is now in my favs!

the cake came up really nice but,,,, are you kidding me? the are not edible figurines...I have the same ones and they are definitely those... you are lucky you won.. But I really think judges should have given the prize to one of the other cakes which had real sugar figures..
    sugar_rush_cakes 11/23/11 at 7:31am
not real figurines.... I have them for my son..

I have to side with sugar_rush_cakes and say that these characters look a lot like the plastic ones and seeing as it's obvious that other people made theirs, I'd ask for a close up of those.

I love the cake. Unfortunately I think it's horribly unfair for you to say you made the figures when they're exactly like the plastic figures many of us already have. What a shame. :o :o

Wow, this is CLEARLY not hand made. I think there is nothing wrong with using plastic decorations, but don't lie about it. It just makes you look even less talented... and dishonest. Look at this exact set for sale from Amazon: (...)

8O I can't believe how mean people can be with their comments. I was curious to see if the toys were real or not and so I looked them up on Amazon and did a comparison. I do believe that the toys on the cake are in fact TOYS. It is a shame that the person lied about it, but it is not in the rules that they can't be on the cake. I love the cake. I really do. But, I am disappointed that the maker of the cake couldn't just tell the truth. Congrats on the win...BOO on the lie.

I'm surprised somebody from cake central has not commented on the issue with this cake, but I don't come on this site much, so I don't know the dynamics around here...
