Doll Cake

Doll Cake on Cake Central

I tried using the rolled buttercream fondant for her skirt for the first time. I loved the taste but found it impossible to actually get it onto the cake without it completely ripping. I finally gave up and covered her skirt in buttercream drop flowers. She was my first doll cake and I guess she turned out okay. It just wasn't the look I wanted.

I think its lovely! You did everything very precisely. I think marshmallow fondant is alot easier than rolled buttercream, you should try it!

I like this look and the color is very pretty. I am about to do my first doll cake next week. May I ask, how did you do the top of the dress? Did you wrap a piece of fondant around her then cut it to fit or did you have a pattern you worked with? Thanks, Cindy

I rolled out the fondant into a rectangle big enough to fit around her When I put it onto the doll it just sort of fit to her curves and made the curving neckline. ( I think that it was beginners luck.) Then I just trimed it down in the back.

Thanks. I will give it a try. I am planning fondant for the top and buttercream for the skirt. I think most 6 years old like buttercream better anyway!
