My son, a Marine, asked me to make him a Marine cake to celebrate USMC's 236th birthday yesterday. Here's what I came up with. It's a chocolate swirl yellow cake with chocolate ganache filling. All decorations (buttons, ribbon, belt, pockets, pins and medals) are made out of fondant.
