Made for a friend whose son is getting married and this is for the bridal shower. It's all chocolate on the outside, three cake tiers on the inside (a 6, 8 and 10). My first time doing this sort of cake and I enjoyed it a lot, even with the learning curve. Thanks for looking!

Yowza! That's magnificent! Chocolate what on the outside? Fondant, clay, tempered chocolate sheets?

Thanks everyone!! I had lots of fun doing this cake. The wraps were chocolate clay but I ended up having to add some chocolate fondant to it because I was having such a hard time with tearing and setting. The fondant made it more pliable. We took it to the banquet hall today and they didn't want to cut the cake -- too intimidating!! Oh brother! The wraps went on in pieces rather than long strips like I had hoped. The balls were chocolate clay rolled into ball shapes and dipped in disco du...

sorry that cut off -- balls rolled in disco dust. I think my next one will be with white chocolate and red sparkles for a lovely Christmas cake. Who's with me??

OMG!!! This is spectacular!!! You just wrap and overlap or is there some mysterious trick to it?

Thanks everyone! I cut 10 x 3 inch strips of chocolate clay and just started wrapping, using ganache for the glue. When I went around, I would pleat at the bottom to create a ruffle at the top (if that makes sense.) After the whole cake was wrapped, I drydusted it with lustre dust in bronze. It really was a fun cake to do!

Oh yeah, I almost forgot, I used the pumpkin spice cake by DeniseNH (in the recipes section) for the bottom tier and that flavor was the big hit! I combined it with pumpkin spice creme filling -- to die for!!!
