In community album: Children's Birthday Cakes
I got to make a cake for one of my favorite people this week. I made this Transformers cake for my nephew! Bumblebee is his favorite, so naturally that became the theme for his cake. I purchased the figure to put on top (it was going to be one of his gifts anyway), it's covered with fondant and the decorations are fondant. The design is my twist on a compilation of different cakes I've seen. The top is supposed to look like torn metal, as the figure has just ripped through the cake! I airbrushed black fondant with pearl spray to get the metal effect. The black stars are also covered with black disco dust to jazz it up. I really love how this came out!

Love this cake! Def one of the cutest transformer cakes on here. How did you do the tear in the middle? Did you cut it like that before putting the fondant on?

@Britterfly Thank you! For the tear in the middle, I put a small circle of black fondant on, then rolled out my yellow fodant, and rolled a small circle of black fondant onto what would be the under side of it. I dusted the fondant that was arleady on the cake with cornstartch so it wouldn't stick, then applied my yellow fondant, making sure that the black was positioned appropriatly- poked a small hole with a knife & then used my small scissors to cut back the fondant to create the torn effect.
