Oh how I loved creating this cake. I also love how the photographer, Sky Cheshure, captured this beautiful photo with the details as well. The cake sat in front of a window at the venue (Cobblestone Creek) in Norman, OK. It was upstairs and the light was beautiful streaming through the window. The bride used an old garden table to keep with the shabby chic feel, to sit the cake on. I didn't want to take away from the cake, so I just used a plain white stand. <3

Another Shabby Chic ruffle cake......

Such a beautiful cake, you did an amazing job! I would love to know how to do these ruffles, do you know if there is a tutorial on cc? :)

Hi Faughnd...I would be happy to give you some info. I have no idea if there is a tutorial or not. I just joined about a month ago and have not had a chance to explore the pages on here, as I work solely by myself and am swamped right now. I can tell you how I did it,. I covered the cake in fondant, then I hand cut thin strips of fondant. I didn't have a size or pattern to go off of. I just tried to make them as thin as possible, without being too thin. I then laid it on my pad, and (cont.)

took a balling tool, and then in a vertical fashion pulled up on the edges to create the ruffle effect. I gently went over it until I got the desired effect. Then I would "glue" it on with edible glue that I make from a piece of fondant dissolved in water. It is a very time consuming cake, but a really pretty effect!

stunning and I'm so glad it's not sitting on some big chunky silver cake stand. This entire presentation is beautiful and the twig adds such a perfect level of dimension. Donna your work is consistently stunning. Congrats on another beautiful cake.

Silly, that is such a great compliment. I found that little cake platter at Kohls and thought it was a great stand for the cake. It doesn't distract from the overall look of the cake. Your words meant a lot. Thank you so much!

you are one busy cake lady! i've "favorited" so many of your cakes lately that i finally just added your website to my favorites so i can better keep up with you!

Thank you Kimmisue. I need to update my website. I communicate more on my FB fan page, because I can actually inneract with my clients, and future brides there. But I do try to stay on top of the website as well. I moved from Tulsa, to OKC in January and was worried it would take awhile to rebuild my business because there are some amazing cake vendors here...but it has actually taken off faster than I ever imagined!
