In community album: Round Wedding Cakes
12/9 six inch tiers, choc-mint mudcake torted into 4 layers on bottom, and white chocolate mud cake in 4 layers on top. Each tier filled with three layers of complementing ganache. Side pattern is in a dusky pink damask with very thin ribbon on top and bottom. Very fragile topper provided clear by bride, and covered in black disco dust by me. The pink open roses were added by me for the main photo here, however the cake was ordered sans any flowers (see additional pics). Thanks for looking!

Absolutely beautiful!! I really like how the black frames the damask pattern.

How on earth did you do the damask patterning?

Beautiful job...I think the flowers are a perfect addition, shame she didn't go with them :)

Thanks everyone :-) Fondant dreams: its a simple stencil job, but I did have to block off the top and bottom of the stencil to fit it on the side like I wanted to. Raewyn - yep, I agree. Neither me nor her Mum could convince her to put a flower onto it! LOL

Oh Dear! This is my favorite cake of yours, I love the color combos, your stenciling is perfect and with the ribbon trim? Flawless, elegant and beauttiful. How did you block off the stencil? Mind if I borrow this design? ;D
Evoir 10/24/11 at 4:24pm
Of course you can! I'm always a bit annoyed that the DS stencils are too tall - even for a huge cake tier like this. All I did was use cellotape on both sides of the stencil (sticking it together, essentially) blocking out the top and bottom 1/2" - 3/4". This also allows you to rest the stencil on the bottom board as you apply your RI, making it much steadier. HTH :-)
