In album: gray
This cake was inspired by the handmade sash worn by the bride on her day (which is why the grey fondant looks wrinkly... it looks like a sash in person, I promise). The flowers are gum paste, modeled after the fabric flowers on her sash, with edible diamonds and pearls in the centers. All layers are covered in fondant with various fillings and flavors. I did hit the fondant with a touch of pearlized sheen with an airbrush, per the bride's request before decorating. The lacy pattern is piped on buttercream, and there are extra pearls in the diamond pattern on the other layers. No, it's not the best wedding cake you'll see today, but it was the first one I'd made in about 10 years, and the first time I'd stacked 4 layers. I'm happy. :)
