I'm not sure how old this post is, but I'm looking for some assistance in building a similar cake.  I've been asked to do one close to this and was wondering if you could give me some tips on a few things.

You can print a template to the size you want, cut it out, and then hold it against your cake as you carve for a guide.  If you go to Youtube, there are several tutorials that show you how to do this.  They are really helpful and make this process not so scary!  Good luck!
