I was playing around with some techniques and decided to try a simple mosaic cake using two different types of candy. The top of the cake has jolly ranchers on it - I melted them down and let them cool flat on a cookie sheet then broke them up and placed on the cake. Then for the sides I rolled out Airhead candy and then cut it up in various shapes. Overall, the Jolly Ranchers (while they look and taste good) were not that great to work with. They got very sticky after a couple hours and actually started to melt into the cake. Since I was going to donate this cake to my son's school for a cake walk, I am sure the kids did not care that the candy melted a little - LOL. TFL
