For your first cake - you did just great! You learn something from each one you make. I bet Logan loved it too! Thank you for sharing it with us.

AWW!! Thank you all so much for your nice comments! It makes me feel great! Yes, Logan LOVED it! That was so neat to see his face. I'm going to attempt it again for my friend's son's birthday in February. Thank you all again for all the nice compliments!

If anyone comes here to look at the cake, I know it looks so gross with all the icing around the edge and the grease ring, but I forgot all about covering the cake board, I was just anxious to get started! Also, the icing isn't quite that melty looking in real life, you can't really see the definition on the stars, but they aren't that ran together. Also...ha, ha.....my edge things, whatever they are, the seashell things, well, they make me laugh out loud when I look at them, but it covered up alot!...

Every cake is a learning experience, next time you'll remember to cover your board. Dont worry about what's wrong, just look at what's right. You covered it really well, i find that a lot of beginners tend to have a lot of gaps in their stars, and you dont, and that is good. Keep up the good work. Great cake.

You learn from every cake and you'll always be proud of your hard work.I know I was. When I did my first cake I was so happy it looked beautiful to me and to my family. Now I look back and it makes me laugh because i see where I have improved and where I still have to learn so much. Yay for you.

VERY good for your first cake. Those stars are a pain in the wrist. Every time one of my grandkids wants one I cringe. They look easier to do than they are.
