My 1st attempt at cake pops and they are trickier than I thought. Lots of trial and error mostly with the right cake consistency and then getting the chocolate right to dip them in. I love cake pops now! And I love eating them more than regular cake because it's like eating "cake dough" mmmmmm...... :)

Thanks everybody! I made the spider legs out of chocolate ahead of time and stick them in with chocolate, I had to blow on them to get them to dry faster to stick. The pumpkin face I painted with gel color and lemon extract mixed.

what type of 'chocolate' did you use for dipping? Mine always seems too thick and never coats the balls thinly or evenly. :(

Those are awesome :) I especially love the mummy. Any tips on dipping them? Sometimes mine will end up sliding off into the chocolate if I do it with a toothpick or something of the sort.

I used the Wilton candy coating. I had to thin it quite a bit and I used Crisco. The thicker the candy coating the more cake balls I had falling off my sticks.

Thanks again! I purchased the little royal icing eyes from a local cake shop. The stem on the pumpkin is a little piece of Fondant painted with green food color. :)

So Cute :) :) Love all of them especially the mummy. Can you please explain your technique making the mummy. Did you thin the bottom coat and use a 2 or 3 tip to swirl around? Thank you, again love them and great job
faithc24 10/20/11 at 6:58am
Thanks Pearloso, I did thin the 1st coat with crisco for dipping. Once that hardened I was melted some white candy melts in a wilton plastic bag and kept kneading it until all the clumps were gone then just cut a little of the tip off, twirled my cake pop and let the chocolate run around it. (avoiding the eyes :)the chocolate comes out of the bag in "ribbon"form like you see then you can just toss the bag, no clean up! You wouldn't want to thin the chocolate for the "ribbons" because thy would just ...
