The trees are actually fondant (used cookie cutters to cut out). I cut half of the trees in half. Then used royal icing to pipe on the details. When I assembled the cake I attached the whole tree to the cake with royal icing and then attached the 3-D trees to the whole tree using roayl icing. So each tree is 3 pieces, 1 whole tree and 2 half tree.
