This cake was done in buttercream with a quilted pattern. Silver dragees at each point. Then I made fondant ruffle to cascade down the side and brushed it with silver highlighter dust and rainbow disco dust.
Thank you Farmwife and Cupncake1. Cupncake, I made the ruffle in pieces, varying from about two inches, to 3-4 inches. I then folded them like an accordian fan and then opened it up and folded it over like a rainbow. If you look at the very top tier, the one that is at the base you can sort of see how it was done. I then dry then standing up in the rainbow position and then when they are dry, I put them on by using buttercream to adhere them to the side of the cake. I position them in different ways,
Some vertical, some horizontal so that it looks like the natural flow of a ruffle. I also made little loops and put rhinestones on them to add more bling!
