My First Castle Cake

My First Castle Cake on Cake Central

This is a picture of the Castle Cake that I made. You will find it posted under another ID for me (Messed up when I was registering). It was made using a 10X10X2 Wilton Pan for the bottom tier and a small oblong pan for the top tier. I then cut off the ends of the oblong cake to make it square. The "towers" in front were made using 2 drinking glasses, turning them upside down and frosting them. My donut towers fell and I had to do some quick thinking. Stones were piped using a #12 tip, then flattened.

I'm making a castle cake for this coming weekend and was wondering how to get the "stone" look on it. I've been searching for impression mats and any thing that I can press against the cake to get the look but NEVER in a million years did I think of piping each and every one stone!!!!!! That must have taken you forever!!!! Now I feel I'm the laziest person in the world!!!! If I don't find anything to make it easier, I swear I'll do it by hand; I'll take you as my inspiration!!!!!

lpino - It DID take me a long time to do the stones, but that was the only thing that was really time consuming about this cake. The vine work took no time at all to complete. I guess it must have taken me a couple of hours, from start to finish, to complete the "stones". (LOL)
